n 1988 the beaver was reintroduced in the Nederlands. Since they’ve multiplied thanks to their protected status. Now they’re with more than 6000 and are no longer endangered and not on the red list anymore. The beaver has no natural enemies. Instead they seem to be of danger to our dikes and canals. I guess new strategies have to be made….as they themselves support the ecosystem and biodiversity as well…
Beavers:
1. have orange teeth.
2. are one of the few animals that modify their habitat.
3. don’t just build dams. They also build lodges.
4. slap their tails on the water to indicate danger.
5. eat wood!
6. are the largest rodents in North America.
7. activity is not synchronized with the typical solar day.
8. can stay underwater for about 6-8 minutes.
